Value-Based Approach to Assess the Impact of Lifestyles on Mode Shares

Travel behavior research has long been dominated by a rational perspective considering primarily objective factors such as price, travel time, and speed. Only at the end of 1990s was attention also paid to subjective perceptions attitudes. Since then, growing number studies combine in explaining behavior. This paper adds this focusing on influence lifestyles mode share. To end, an online survey carried out Belgium, completed successfully 334 respondents. Lifestyles were measured based psychographic or value-based approach using Portrait Values Questionnaire (PVQ) developed Schwartz. Results structural equation model (SEM) indicate that new insights analysis Personal values have not only direct effect share but indirect because interactions with urban residential location choices, car ownership decisions, activity patterns.
